LOSS OLSS Stallions (0) vs. Richmondtown Piranhas (1)
The Stallions came out playing a very tough defensive game against the first place Piranhas. The first period was scoreless with many offensive opportunities created by Anthony Germana, Eddie Pucciarelli and Danny Murro. The Stallions were all over the ball throughout the game and had a great defensive showing. The midfield did a phenomenal job of keeping the Piranhas away from the goalkeeper. Tom “ the wild man “Setteducato continues to be a noticeable presence in the midfield.  The Piranhas were stopped multiple times during the first period, and the Stallions quickly turned on the pressure. It was a very tough second period, with the Piranhas scoring a goal midway through. Overall it was a great season, and we are very proud of the way that you have been playing. We have seen a huge improvement in your passing and positioning on the field. Your hard work has paid off. Great job boys and see you in the spring.
WIN
OLSS Seahorses(2) vs.  St Patrick Cheetahs(0)
Amanda Grant scored to break a scoreless tie and also played flawless
goal in the first half  leading the Seahorses to a win in their final
game and to finish a great season with a 7 - 1 record.  Sonny Baialardo
tipped in the second goal after some fantastic passing by Danielle
Barone and Alex Pannone  for clutch assists.  Huge mid field plays were
mad by Samantha Pannone, Eve Esposito, Emily Ruiz, Casey Scarlett,
Christina Anzalone, and Alexandra Sillaro. Kristen Contreras was
outstanding as usual in goal for the win and our defenders Stephanie
Montemarano, Kaitlin Katz, Jenna Costa, and Amanda Guttila was superb.
WIN OLSSSharks (2) vs. SIA Tigers – Maroon (1)
Despite missing 4 players and playing short handed for the entire game, the OLSS Sharks hung on to defeat the Staten Island Academy Tigers 2-1, and stay undefeated and clinch the U12 Division 2 Championship!.   In a thrilling game under raining, cold and windy conditions, the Sharks players gave it everything they had (right down to the numb hands) to pull off the victory to seal First place.  Coming into the last weekend, the Sharks led their Division in first place by only 3 points, and needing a win or tie to at least guarantee the Championship!. SIA Academy scored first early in the first half and it looked like it was going to be a nail biting game for the Sharks.  Michael Cannizzaro answered in the first half with a give and go coming from Michael Beale.  Cannizzaro was able to burst ahead of the defenders to score the goal and tie the game 1-1. Late in the first half it looked like the Sharks were going to take the lead with a beautiful pass from Nick Pollio to Michael Lieberman and Michael leading Cannizzaro with the cross kick for a breakaway shot on goal, with Cannizzaro about 5 yards from the goal, he made a move and appeared to shoot it pass the diving SIA goaltender, but he came up with a miraculous, dividing save!  Coming into the 2nd half, the Sharks knew they needed to take the lead as they were running out of gas.  About half way through the 2nd half, Michael Beale had a shot on goal which caused a big scramble in front of the net, Michael Lieberman came storming from the right side and slid into the ball (finally using his left foot!) to score the goal and give the Sharks the 2-1 lead.  With 11 minutes to go in the game, the Tigers controlled the ball and kept the pressure on our goalie and defense, right to the last whistle.  Fred Weiner was brilliant all day on defense, as his speed, goal clearing and exhausting play was magnificent. Chris Odessa and Thomas Annan played outstanding as the left and right defender positions, with their work cut out for them all game.    Anthony Hartnett and Nick Pollio played their most aggressive games of the season, controlling, clearing and passing the ball through out the game.  Michael Catanzaro had to cover 2 key positions --- Stopper and Midfield while assisting as defender and bringing up the ball as a forward.  His play and control of Midfield was great all day!. Mark Dantuono had his work cut out in goal today, not getting the warmth of running around while having to be on his (frozen) toes saving and avoiding close calls and shots on goal!  Finally with the last whistle the Sharks had won and were able to claim First Place Champions!   Today was a day that I hope all the Sharks team and parents will remember! Your boys gave it their all out their today.  You could see it on their faces (their clothes too), their exhaustive efforts and their team play.  CONGRATULATIONS SHARKS!!!!!!!

Good game.

LOSS OLSS Turmoil (3) vs OLHC Thunderbolts (6)
Team Turmoil, once again facing The OLHC Thunderbolts, playing back to back games this weekend due to a previous rainout. The Thunderbolts, came out strong scoring the first goal of the game. Team Turmoil came firing back with a goal by the red hot Alexa Cardella who scored twice in this match. Alexa has been on fire the past three games scoring seven goals. OLHC added a goal before the half. Team Turmoil hung tough with an additional goal by Alyssa DeFillipo. But today, The Thunderbolts were to tough to keep up with scoring four goals in the second half defeating Team Turmoil in this rematch 6-3. Team Turmoil fought hard the entire game and not quitting just as they did all season. Michelle "Crazy Legs" DiPaolo, Karla Briscoe, Jonna Scopellito gave it their all. Dana Stucker, Sarah Pelka  and Allison Inserra played everywhere today giving a strong, never quitting effort. Victoria Altomonte, Isabella Scotto, defensively fought off offensive players all game fighting for every ball that came their way. Brooke "The Vacuum" Wildes stopping numerous chances by The Thunderbolts came out this game like she was in a battle. Finally, the end of a very tough fall season. Team Turmoil in back to back battles with OLHC Thunderbolts ended the fall season tied for third with OLHC. What a way to end this season. Team Turmoil whether on the winning or losing end of a game, never gave up in any game until the final whistle. As I said last season the coaches and parents are extremely proud of all these girls for their hardwork and dedication. Great season and we will see you in the spring.

WIN OLSS Marlins(5) vs. St. Patrick Rangers(0)
For the second week in a row the Marlins faced off against the Rangers and for the second week in a row the Marlins came out with a 5-0 victory.  This week's game combined some impressive passing and defense with an unstoppable offense.  Goals came from all over the field with Zachary Jones knocking in two this week.  Matthew Piccione hooked one just inside the post for a goal and Joseph Albanese added a second half rocket to extend the lead.  Derek Klugewics received a deflection in front of the net and blasted it out of the goalkeeper's reach to notch his first goal of the season.  St. Pats rarely got to the OLSS side of the field with Michael Endall, Justin Delgado and Liam Frascati patrolling the midfield.  Defense from Tyler Breslow, Chris Luisi and Joseph Volpe kept the Rangers from recording a single shot on goal.
This week's game capped off a fantastic fall for the Marlins.  Playing our first season in the Under 8 Division 1 group, we posted an outstanding record of 8 wins against 1 loss.  We are looking forward to the Spring when Division 1 will get even more challenging.  Congratulations to all the Marlins on a great season.
WIN OLSS Vipers(3) vs. Blessed Sacrament Little Stars(0)
The Vipers won their last game of the fall season.  We shut out the Blessed Sacrament Little Stars 3 - 0.  Taylor Kelly scored her 4th goal of the season and Gia Tilatitsky scored 2 goals making her season total 8.  The Vipers had to play with only 7 members in the first half and 6 in the second and were still able to pull off a win.  Our rotating defense was very strong with Caila Marashaj in goal who made some great saves.  Erin Schuler, Allison DiPaolo, Madison Baialardo, and Samantha Delapi played so well covering all offensive positions.  Everything was against us for this game including the cold weather but the Vipers pulled together and were victorious.  We are so proud of every member of this team.  All of you have worked very hard this season and it shows!  We can't wait to show Staten Island what we can do in the Spring!  Thanks to all the Moms, Dads and Grandparents for your constant support, we could not do it without you.  We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!  See you in the Spring!    Coach Cathy and Coach Michelle

LOSS OLSS Express(2) vs. SJST Fillies(3)
Well, you can't win them all. Team Express lost their first game ever, and that's alright. It was one of our most exciting games. St.Joseph St.Thomas Fillies were a real good team and really showed up to play. Our girls also played a great game and showed what they are made of. After being down 1-0 Alexandra Adornetti netted one to tie up the game. Being down 2-1 in the second half Julia Beale drilled one in to tie up the score. SJST tallied a late goal to put the icing on the cake and give Team Express their first loss. It was a great game. Gabby Wuensch, Gabriella Diorio, Hailey Caruso and Katherine Betsais played an outstanding defense the whole game. Maya Dispenza and Serena Ruocchio played excellent as goalies and Serena also on offense. Samantha Monteforte, Rachel Kearns, Alyssa Esposito and Jenna Valero played great on offense having many shots on goal and keeping the ball on the Fillies half all game. Julianna Garbarino and Genieve Steinmetz played great on offense and defense keeping the ball in play the whole game. It is a real pleasure to coach this team and I am very proud of you girls. You are learning and playing unselfishly which makes you a great TEAM. I'll see you in the Spring, and everyone have a Great Holiday.    GO EXPRESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WIN OLSS Surge() vs Sacred Heart Blackhawks()
Today's game was the coldest, rainiest and muddiest day of the season.  But the Surge came to play.  The fearsome six who started the game were Vincent " Vinny Miami" Mammi in goal keeper, Magnus "The Magnificent" as stopper, Vincent "Vinny Dogs" Barone in sweeper and Tyler "Machine Gun" Wren, Jason Leventhal and Angelo "Speedie" Occhipinti on offense. Vinny Miami volunteered to play goal keeper today and played awesome with some great saves and excellent throws to his team mates.  He was able to shut out the Blackhawks in the first half of play.  Magnificent Magnus stopped the Blackhawks countless times as they tried to get near Surge's goal.  He was the anchor on the Surge's defense.  Vinny Dogs, played a "sick" sweeper position knocking the ball into Blackhawk territory for the offense to make some good runs at the net. Machine Gun, playing right forward, had some good runs and took some really good shots, but the Blackhawks had an excellent goalie today.  Machine Gun hustled back to help out on defense many times.  Good job.  Speedie was all over the field using his dribbling skills and weaving his way around the Blackhawks (this is Speedie's first year playing organized soccer).  Speedie also had some great shots, but that Blackhawk goalie came to play in today's mud bowl.  Jason almost had a goal when he stole the ball inside the box but it hit the post!  Jason also stared in net in the second half, helping to preserve the shut out.  Vinny Miammi moved to the sweeper position in the second half. These key moves set up the scoring scenario. Surge was able to get on the board, when Vinny Dogs took a throw in pass from Vinny Miami dribbled pass two Blackhawk defenders and drilled a shot from about 18 yards out.  Vinny Dogs scored his second goal when Speedie hit him with a good throw in, Dogs made some really cool moves past the Blackhawk's and found the back of the net from outside the box for a second time. With 5 minutes left, Speedie took over the keeper position as he was flanked by Machine Gun and Dogs.  Jason, Magnus and Miami worked the offensive duties and came close to scoring for Surge.  Happy Holidays everyone and thanks for a great season!
WIN OLSS Stingrays(1) vs. SJHA Toppers(0)
Nicolette Esposito scored the lone goal to lead the Stingrays to a fine
season and a 1 - 0 win in their final game.  Victoria Blinder and
Annalisa Montemarano combined to pitch the shutout in goal.  Fantastic
plays were made by Caitlyn Carr, Isabella Delgornio, Kiera Evanego,
Corrine Kamien, Annalise Localzo, Jessica Pannone, Lauren Pollio,
Jacqueline Richardson, and Michelle Takvorian in route to our win.

WIN OLSS Fever 5 vs St Joseph Attack 2
What better way to end this fall season than with an impressive win by the mighty OLSS Fever over the St. Joseph Attack.  For the season, the Fever went undefeated and I would like to thank all  of the boys who played hard and made this season a memorable one.  Each week we improved our playing and by this end of this season, this team was unstoppable. Great job Fever. Some of the bright stars of this game were Ryan who was tremendous both offensively with two goals and defensively with plays which stopped the Attack in their tracks. Another star was Joseph, who always seems to get to the ball and make the most of it.  He scored a nice goal with a hard shot that couldn't be stopped and his ball control is among the best in the league.  Last but certainly not least was Justin with his speed and aggressiveness that makes him a powerhouse with another two goals. We look forward to next spring to pick up where we left off.

WIN OLSS Stallions (4) vs. St. Charles Sharks (1)
The Stallions came out and played an excellent game against the St. Charles Sharks and overwhelmed them with their crushing offense. Anthony Germana was a goal-scoring machine and finished off with a hat trick. Nick Simone added a goal to put the icing on the cake. Ray Cardella and Mike Peruggia provided the support in the mid-field that was necessary to stop the Sharks offense. The defense of Nick Dantuono, Joe Scaffidi and Nick “the brick” Camporeale seemed like a wall in front of the goal. It was an impressive performance by all members of the TEAM. You should all be proud of your playing and the effort that you put into the games.
 Sunday 11/11
TIE OLSS Stallions (1) vs. Holy Child Cubs (1)
This was an awesome game boys. It had everything that a soccer fan would want to see; offense, defense, passing, you name it! The effort that you guys put in today was fantastic. Throughout the scoreless first half, the defensive play by both teams was amazing. The Stallions spent a great deal of time by the Holy Child goal, and created plenty of scoring opportunities. It was a nail biter up until the very end. Anthony Germana scored the go ahead goal in the second half with a beautiful drive up field and a nice shot to the corner. Holy Child responded with a goal about a minute later, but we held them scoreless for the rest of the game. Marcello Scotto and Robert LaPiedra played strong in the midfield, with Tom “ the wild man “Setteducato securing the back midfield. It was a very impressive game and showed what a great team you guys have become!!

Every player on this team is to be credited with this win.  Each player is working hard on their individual skills and as a team player.  You all make us proud!

Maya Dispenza played excellent in goal, making some great saves to shut-out the Wildcats.  Julianna Garbarino and Genieve Steinmetz also pitched in as goalie and played well on offense. WIN OLSS Surge(2) vs. St.Dorothy's(1)
Today , the Surge played a very tough opponent St. Dorothy's.  Since St. Dorothy's only showed up with 5 players it was a 5 v 5 contest (we normally play 7 v 7).  St. Dorothy's played with the heart of a Lion and gave team Surge one of it's hardest games of the season.  The game ended OLSS 2 - St. Dorothy's 1.
Magnus "The Magnificent" Hjorleifsson started the game as goal keeper and did a great job until he was replaced by Vincent "Vinny Miami" Mammi.  "Vinny Miami" also excelled in the defensive and offensive positions on the day.  Brendan "Bulldog" Walsh evened the score 1 - 1, when he drilled a goal past St. Dorothy's goal keeper.  Jason Leventhal, Tyler "Machine Gun" Wren and Joe Morrelli supplied the pressure on offense and each came close to getting goals on the day.  Andrew Tachman also played well on offense. Angelo "Speedy" Occhipinti gave the Surge a little breathing room when he lit up the scoreboard with Surge's second goal of the game.  Surge went into it's prevent defense when "Speedy", Vincent "Vinny Dogs" Barone and Jonathon "JP" Pellegrino took over the defensive duties.   JP starred in the keeper position shutting out the Lion's in the second half with some really great saves.  "Vinny Dogs" was the "Enforcer" on defense and kept slamming the ball back into the Lions end.

WIN OLSS Sparks (5) vs. Blessed Sacrament Sparks (0)
Yes!  The Sparks are back and flying high at that!  I am so very proud of you all.  It was a big improvement from the past two weeks.  First off, without Chloe and Kaitlin Malloy we wouldn't have been able to keep the shutout going.  Excellent job to the two of you!  Our first goal was by default, so thank you to Blessed  Sacrament.  The next four were due to the hard work by our team.  Carlie "Break Away" Buono was on fire scoring 2 goals, Michaela "Move it Up" Murro moved that ball right into the net, Caitlin "Catch It" Gleavy broke away with those legs and kicked another in and last but not least, Julia "Get 'em" Gregorio, who has shown awesome improvement (she tells me she practices with her dog), nailed one in too.  Let's not forget our teammates who kept the ball going throughout the whole game.....they are:  Katie Borg, Lauren, Sophia, Isabella, Katherine, and Elaina, your red faces showed you worked hard this week. Parents.................thanks for braving the chilly conditions. Thanks, Maylee, for keeping girls cheering on side lines!  Get well goes out to Lisa and Gianna.  Feel better soon!  We missed you too, Katie C!  Girls, we have one more practice with a surprise the last 20 minutes and one more game.  Let's go out with a bang and show everyone why we are called the SPARKS!  Great going today, you really did a great job!  See you on Wednesday!

The Stars could not be stopped on Sunday on their way to a dominating win over the Bengals.  The way they are playing, it's hard to believe that most of these girls had never kicked a soccer ball before this season.  Kaitlyn Piccione couldn't let her brother have the only hat trick in the family this weekend so she knocked in three goals of her own.  Deanna Endall also had a big day, scoring two powerful goals.  Hayley Gallagher sealed the game with her first goal of season.  Casey Hicks just missed with a shot off the post.  Lauren Killen, Olivia Volpe, Gianna Disibio and Julia Iacovelli pushed the ball on offense all game.  Hailey Varca and Gianna Ferrante shut down the Bengals on defense and Alexia Amato and Julia McCabe starred in goal making some great saves.  We are looking forward to closing out our undefeated fall season on Sunday.

Jonathon "JP" Pellegrino, Jason Leventhal, Magnus "The Magnificent" Hjorleifsson and Angelo "Speedy" Occhipinti excelled on the day in the offensive position, the sweeper position and on defense.  Team Surge was unstoppable today.
No practice this week in observance of Halloween!

LOSS OLSS Sparks (2)  vs. Richmondtown Sparkles(4)
Despite the confusion again today, we did our best but the Sparkles beat us.   We mustn't like these late afternoon games.  Caitlin Gleavy and Isabella Espada had excellent goals and Lauren, Gianna, Katie B, Katie C, Sophia, Michaela, Chloe, Julia, and Elaina did a great job and I am proud of you.  We wish Lisa and Katherine a speedy recovery and we missed Carlie and Kaitlin! Remember girls, no practice Wednesday and have a safe, fun Happy Halloween!  See you at next week's game!
WIN OLSS Stars(2) vs. Richmondtown Thundercats(0)
The Stars played one of the their best games of the season on Sunday with a thrilling win over the Thundercats.  Julia, Gianna and Casey kept the ball on Richmondtown's end of the field most of the game.  Sydney scored the first goal of the game, driving the ball through the hands of the goalkeeper.  Later in the game, Kailtyn took the ball the length of the field and knocked it into the net for the Stars' second goal of the day.  The Stars had plenty of shots on goal that were stopped by some great Richmondtown goaltending.  When the ball made it to our end of the field, Hayley, Hailey and Lauren were there on defense to provide the stops.  On the rare occasion that the ball got through, Gianna and Deanna took turns in goal shutting out the Thundercats.  Another great wins as the Stars continue their undefeated season.

WIN OLSS Sharks(5) vs. St. Rita's Spitfire(1)

The OLSS Sharks continue to roll through their division with a 5-1 victory over St. Rita’s Spitfire.  All five goals came off of beautiful passing, from all over the field.  Practically every player had a hand in assisting each goal, from the defenders to the mid-fielders to the forwards. The Sharks kept the cross kicks, corner kicks, sweep shots and more just flying through out the game.  Michael Beale netted 2 goals, with William Trang, Fred Weiner, and Michael Cannizzaro adding 1 each. Fred Weiner, Chris Odessa and Brian Weintraub played flawless defense, barely allowing St. Rita’s to break mid-field for most of the game.  Nick Pollio, Giovanni Butalid and Michael Herko played aggressive at the Mid-field and defender positions.  Anthony Hartnett and Mark Dantuono split the goaltending (admittedly a little bored back there alone).Michael Catanzaro and Michael Lieberman combined for 4 assists. The best way to sum up how we have been playing was put best by St. Rita’s coach at the end of the came.  He came up to Frank and I and I said, “I just want to congratulate you and your team, they are a pleasure to watch”, “truly a pleasure”.  This is the third game this year where we have been commended by the opposing coaches.  You should all be proud.

WIN OLSS Stallions (4) vs. Richmondtown Cobras (1)
The Stallions continue their unbeaten streak with an exciting win over the Richmondtown Cobras. Anthony Germana continues his impressive play with a hat trick that sparked the Stallions offensive blitz. This extends his game-scoring streak to 5. Mike Weintraub also added a goal, and Nick Simone contributed with two assists. Tom “the wild man” Setteducato caused havoc in the midfield, keeping the Richmondtown offense at bay. The Stallions defense, led by Nick “the brick” Camporeale held their positions and secured the area. Nick Dantuono and Nick Tritto provided the defensive support needed to win this game. The overall playing of the Stallions continues to get better and better every game. The passing and communication among the team has allowed them to effectively work as a well-oiled unit. As coaches, we are very happy that what we teach is being applied in the game. This week we saw plenty of passing, a few give and go’s, and a lot of communicating between players. Great job Stallions!
WIN OLSS Seahorses(3) vs. Sacred Heart Hot Shots(1)
After a scoreless first half with many missed chances and a tremendous
sharp angle shot for a goal by Sacred Heart half way through the second
half the Seahorses came alive for 3 unanswered goals.  The team gave
winning goalie Kristin Contreras a nice birthday present as they were
able to overcome the Hot Shots.  Sonny Baialardo smashed in the first
and third goals and Danielle Barone scored to give the team a lead  it
would never relinquish. Emily Ruiz and Alexandra Sillaro chipped in key
assists and important defensive plays were made by Casey Scarlett and
Stephanie Montemarano.

LOSS
OLSS Rhinos (3) vs. Petrides Panthers White (4)

The Rhinos played their hearts out but came up just a bit short this week!  After trailing by a score of 2-0 in the second half, Michael Matrangolo rocketed a ball about 30 foot through 4 defenders and 5 of his own teammates.  Petrides responded quickly with another goal to get back their 2 goal lead but then Nicholas Meys scored a short while later after getting the ball off a corner kick.  It looked like the Rhinos were in control during most of the second half, but Petrides was able to convert a 3 on 2 break into another goal with only a few minutes left in the game.  Despite being behind by two goals again the Rhinos did not give up.  Michael Matrangolo scored his second goal of the game and Gavin Monreale made one of the best defensive plays of the year in the last minute of play to keep it a 1 goal game.  With time running out the Rhinos were putting tremendous pressure on the Petrides end of the field but just couldn’t notch the tying goal.  Special props have to be given to our goalies, Michael Raucci and Branden Wren.  They made some of the best saves ever witnessed in all my years of coaching and the rest of the boys played better than they ever have as a team and as individuals!  Despite the loss I have to say that it was a great game and the boys should be proud of themselves for leaving everything on the field!

WIN OLSS Marlins(6) vs. Great Kills Thunder(1)
The Marlins rolled through the Thunder on Saturday with a dominating 6-1 win.  Our offense pressured Great Kills all day with great passing and dribbling.  Chris Luisi, Steven Wren and Joseph Volpe combined for a strong performance in goal.  Joseph Albanese and James Ammirati each had two goals and Matthew Piccione and Zachary Jones added one each to provide the scoring. The defense of Justin Delgado, Danny Maguire, Derek Klugewics and Tyler Breslow shut down the Thunder all game.
WIN OLSS Vipers(6) vs. OLQP Stars(0)
The Vipers shut out the OLQP Stars 6 - 0.  Every player was at the top of their game.  Caila Marashaj scored her first goal of the season. Other goals were scored by Madison Balalardo, Samantha Delapi and Allison DiPaolo.  The goal net was kept empty because of the great efforts made by Kristen Simone and Carolyn Dunn.  Our defensive team of Taylor Kelly, Juliana Tritto and Gia Tilatitsky kept the Stars off of our side of the field.  Erin Schuler and Jessica Brienza had the Star's defense on guard through out the game.

WIN
Blessed Sacrament(2) vs. OLSS Stingrays(0)
The Stingrays battled hard  but were just unable to find the net in this
hard fought battle.  Isabella Panattierri and Megan Lopez played well in
goal for the Stingrays but a few fluke shots found their way in.
Jessica Pannone, Kasey Fleming, and Katie Vellanti were excellent for
the Seahorse offense.  Key defensive plays were made by Jacqueline
Richardson, Kiera Evanego, and Corinne Kamien.
WIN OLSS Surge(2) vs. Richmondtown Dynamos(1)
Vincent Barone netted two goals in a very hard game.Jonathon Pelligrino, Jason Leventhal, Andrew Tachman and Vincent Mammi played well and covered the field for the hungry Surge.

Express does it again!!! Happy Birthday Jenna Valero who started team Express off with the first of her 2 goals. Alexandra Adornetti and Julia Beale also tallied goals for team Express. Also, getting her first goal of the season was Gabriella Diorio proving that even defense gets goals on our team. Way to go Gab! The shutout of the Charms had to do with the great goaltending by Maya Dispenza, Erin Marie Hanley, Genevieve Steinmetz, Hailey Caruso and Julianna Garbarino who all played a great game in net. The offense led by Rachael Kearns and Serena Ruocchio kept the pressure on the Charms the whole game. Katherine Betsais, Alyssa Esposito, and Gabby Wuensch helped keep the ball in front of the Charms net all game with some great passing to set up some scores. As usual this was a total team win. Way to go Team Express!!!!!
LOSS OLSS Strikers(0) vs. St. Joseph St. Thomas(1)
My Strikers entered the field hoping for their first win this season, but it just didn't happen.
These boys are playing great soccer, and learning more and more about the game, we have
just been unlucky in putting that ball in the net. The goals will come, the wins will come and
then we will be unstoppable. Paul Caiazza played a great game, staying focused and fighting
for every ball. Giovanni Tafuri has truly become a team player looking to pass the ball to any
teammate. Eric Kearns keeps up the fight, chasing down every player and creating nice
opportunities. Dean Tafuri and Joseph Lieberman being the youngest of the bunch really show
that age or size does not matter. Anthony Gatti has improved greatly, even as a goalkeeper.
Lets not forget speedy Mark Wildes with many exciting shot on goal. Andrew Bacolo, Joseph Monforte,
Michael Venetsky and Joseph Nichilo all played hard. Keep your heads up boys, WE CAN DO IT !!

We can't win them all, girls!  Michaela "Move the Ball" Murro scored our first goal of the game and Lauren "Tap It" Taravella sneakily scored our 2nd goal of the game.  Although a bit sleepy today, we did a lot of running. Carlie"Break Away" Buono ran like the wind and brought the ball up field many times.  Julia "Get 'em" Gregorio did a lot of running today too.  Katherine, Caitlin, Sophia, Isabella, Katie C., Katie M, Lisa, Elaina, and Gianna starred offensively and defensively.  We missed our head cheerleader, Mrs. Borg, today and of course we missed Katie Borg and Chloe.  Thanks to our parents who were pretty much on edge of their seats..........great enthusiasm! Thanks also to Katie Malloy and her grandmother for giving us the "sugar rush" we could have used before the game!  See you all on Wednesday and get a good night's sleep for next Sunday.  You all make me proud!

WIN  OLSS Rhinos (3) vs. OLQP Cowboys (0)

The Rhinos played one of their best games yet!  Nicholas Meys converted a fantastic pass from Christopher Pinho to score the game’s first goal.  He also hit the post on a blast from inside the box and assisted on the second goal by Robert McErlean.  Michael Matrangolo blasted one past the OLQP goalie to finish up the scoring and he helped stifle the Cowboys on the defensive end.  If not for some terrific saves by the OLQP goaltender, Matthew Senerchia, Gavin Monreale and Anthony Merola could have easily added to the Rhinos’ tally.  Bradyn St. Laurent and John DeRosa played solid on defense and pushed the ball to the net when they switched over to the offensive end.  Paul Fusco and Michael Taylor seemed to be everywhere, helping to keep the Cowboys off balance almost the entire game and big props have to go out to Michael Raucci and Brandon Wren.  The two boys teamed up to shut out the Cowboys and they played awesomely on the field when they weren’t in the net.  Great game guys!

WIN OLSS Cougars(1) vs. OLGC Blue Knights(0)

After starting the season with two loses and a tie, the OLSS Cougars earned their 1st win at the U 10 level with a 1-0 thriller over the talented OLGC Blue Knights. The Cougars  playing their first game in over two weeks came refreshed and ready to go. The lone goal was scored by Tina Briscoe who received a great pass from Madysen Martino and Corrinne Baggs to put it passed the Blue Knights stellar goal keeper. From their the tireless play of Gianna Polemeni, Courtney Cayton, Michelle Askew and Chloe Trang kept th Blue Knights off the ball. Mid fielders Gianni LoPorcaro and Lauren Turco provided some great steals to keep the ball in the offensive zone. Megan Wren and Amanda Murro combined for the shutout in goal. The defensive play of Madision Asaro, Tara Walsh, Ava St Laurent, Lena Mortilla and Mikaela McDonough helped secure the shutout win for the Cougars. Great Job Girls!!!
 Coach Jim and Kathy
WIN OLSS Turmoil(2) vs Holy Child Crackerjacks(1)
Team Turmoil faced off against yet another tough Hold Child team "The Crackerjacks". Turmoil came out on fire attacking the Crackerjack goal by hitting 3 posts before Alyssa Defillipo from the leftside forward position, nailed a shot in the upper left corner to put Turmoil out on top 1-0. Turmoil forwards Michelle DiPaolo, Julianna Adornetti and Alexa Cardella kept the defense and goaltender spinning and making some nice passes to control the ball in the offensive zone. The Turmoil midfielders, Karla Briscoe and Jonna Scopellito, the two stars of this game, took control of the game with excellent passing and ball control, keeping the opposing players and the ball far from our goal. Turmoil defense lead by Nicole Vierno, Isabella Scotto, Erika Ferrara and Victoria Altomonte allowed only 3 or 4  shots on goal. The two netminders, Brooke Wildes and Nikki Kinnear only gave up a single goal as a Crackerjack forward slipped in behind the defense all alone and scored with 10 seconds remaining in the first half and then shut them down for the remainder of the game. Brooke and Nikki also when not in goal, played hard at forward and midfield positions. Halle Wine, Dana Stucker also playing forward spots kept the pressure up controlling play in the offensive end and assisting on many scoring opportunities. The game was put away with under 2 minutes remaining when Michelle DiPaolo driving hard down the right side of the field beating 2 opposing players, sent a crossing pass onto the foot of Julianna Adornetti who shot a bullet from just inside the box into the the left corner of the goal to put Turmoil up 2-1 for good. Best game of the season for Team Turmoil.

OLSS Surge vs.
Jonathon "JP" Pellegrino was all over the field and had countless shots at net as he tried his hardest to score a goal for his Dad's birthday.  (Sorry Dad, looks like you will have to stay 39 another year!)
Tyler "Machine Gun" Wren played the left forward position well and scored the second goal for the Surge. Vincent "Vinny Miami" played a mean sweeper position which allowed the offense to keep the pressure on the Vikings.  Jason Leventhal, Magnus "The Magnificent" Hjorleifsson and Andrew Tachman played well for the Surge.Angelo "Speedie" Occhipinti silenced the Vikings while in the goal keeper position and Brendan "Bull Dog" Walsh had some good break-aways.  Vincent "Vinny Dogs" Barone scored the first goal of the contest on a determined play.  The boys behaved very well on the sidelines again this week and are concentrating on playing their designated positions.
WIN OLSS Express(3) vs. Blessed Sacrament Gems(0)

WIN
OLSS Sharks(3) vs. ELS Eagles(2)

The OLSS Sharks continued its unbeaten streak by hanging on to defeat the ELS Eagles 3-2 on Tuesday.  Game time conditions were cold and very windy and one of the most important decisions turned out to be the coin toss, which was won by the Sharks and with the choice to play the first half with the wind at our backs. Well, after ELS scored the first goal (against the wind) we knew we were in for a great and competitive match.  The Sharks came back quickly and tied the game off a goal by Michael Cannizzaro and took a 2-1 lead on another goal by Cannizzaro before the half ended. Knowing the Sharks were in for a dark and windy 2nd half, we came out aggressive and off of a great “give and go” between Michael Lieberman and Michael Cannizzaro, Cannizzaro was able to slip by the defenders for a breakaway goal to make it 3-1.  ELS was very aggressive in the 2nd half and with what seemed to be a hundred shots on goal, Mark Dantuono made save after save, including a spectacular diving save from outside the goal to keep the lead. The defensive play of Fred Weiner, Michael Beale, Thomas Annan and Chris Odessa helped clear the offensive attack by ELS.  William Trang and Brian Weintraub were outstanding in the Mid-Field and Stopper positions, helping to save goals and clear rebounds as well.  At times they seemed to come out of nowhere to help out their team mates. Giovanni Butalid, Nick Pollio and Michael Herko played great midfield positions keeping the ball moving ahead. With barely being able to see the ball due to darkness, ELS was able to get a late goal with 2 minutes left in the game and had their chances to tie it with less than a minute to go in the game.  But the Sharks were able to hold off for the exciting win. Everyone equally deserves congratulations on a well played game and a great win!  Our passing and team play continues to be the impressive.  Great job Sharks!

WIN OLSS Stallions (3) vs. Blessed Sacrament Barracudas (0)
The Stallions overpowered the Blessed Sacrament Barracudas with a 3-0 win. Robert Lapiedra started things off with a goal, putting the Stallions on top early on. Anthony Germana pitched in with a goal, and Michael Weintraub put the nail in the coffin with his first goal of the season. The solid play of the midfield and defense continues to be a major part of the Stallions success thus far. In the second half the Stallions did a great job by staying in their positions, and maintaining continuous possession of the ball. Most of the time was spent putting offensive pressure on the Barracudas in front of their goal. We are very proud of you guys. Keep up the good work!

WEEK # 3  9/29 - 9/30

WIN
OLSS Sharks (6) vs. Great Kills Eagles (0)

The OLSS Sharks defeated the Great Kills Eagles 6-0 while barely allowing their opponents to cross mid-field.  Michael Lieberman led the attack with two goals and three assists, with a goal each coming from Michael Beale, Michael Catanzaro, Michael Cannizzaro and Thomas Annan. Annan’s and Beale’s goal came off beautiful mid-air cross kick passes with each getting some nice air between “the ground and their feet” while directing the ball into the corner of the goal.   William Trang and Michael Catanzaro recorded assists as well. The defensive play of Anthony Hartnett and Nicholas Pollio helped to hold back Great Kills to allow only one shot on goal which came late in the second half.  Michael Herko handled the one shot as he made his debut as Goalkeeper in the second half and giving Marc Danutono the chance to get into the scoring mix.

TIE OLSS Stallions (1) vs. SJHA Raptors (1)
The Stallions had a slow start in the first half, but came back strong in the second. Anthony Germana continues his scoring streak with a goal that evened the score. There was plenty of offensive pressure in the second half led by Eddie Pucciarelli and Michael Weintraub. Nick Simone contributed with some beautiful passing that put smiles on our faces. The midfield and defense held off the Raptors attack for a scoreless second half. Tom “the wild man” Setteducato and Nick “the brick” Camporeale were instrumental in keeping the Raptors at bay, with Nick Dantuono and Joe Scaffidi providing defensive support for the team. Mike Peruggia, Vincenzo Fiorentino and Vincent Rao played solid midfield positions continuously pushing the ball up field. The Stallions had one last offensive attack with 10 seconds left, and finished the play with goal that was overturned by the ref. Overall this was a great effort by the team, who continue to improve every week. Great job to all!!

LOSS  OLSS Rhinos (2) vs. Great Kills Panthers (3)

Unfortunately, the Rhinos unbeaten streak has come to an end!  On a very positive note, though, the boys played very hard and never gave up.  After falling behind 2-0 at the half, the Rhinos stormed back with 2 quick goals to tie the game up.  Nicholas Meys dribbled through the defense to get the Rhinos on the board and Michael Matrangolo scorched a rocket past the Panthers’ goalie a few minutes later to tie the game up.  Even though the boys pressured the Panthers’ goalie for the rest of the game, with near misses by Anthony Merola, Michael Taylor and Gavin Monreale, we just couldn’t get the ball through the pipes again.  Brandon Wren was a standout performer on defense in the first half and as goalie in the second half and Robert McErlean played very strongly throughout the entire game, keeping himself near the action at all times.  The Rhinos will look to take advantage of a week off to recuperate and to get charged back up!

TIE OLSS Turmoil(0) vs. Holy Child Crosskickers(0)
Team Turmoil and The Holy Child Crosskickers once again faced-off against eachother in a rematch of last weeks game which ended in a Crosskickers win on a penalty kick with approximately 2 minutes to play. This weeks game ended in a 0-0 tie. Turmoil, lead by strong defensive play by Nicole "Sweeper" Vierno, Erika Ferrara, Isabella Scotto and Victoria Altomonte and goaltending by Nikki Kinnear and Brooke Wildes held off The Crosskickers offense. Julianna Adornetti, Michelle "Crazy Legs" DiPaolo, Alexa Cardella and Alyssa Defillipo had some chances and kept the pressure on the opposing teams defense. Strong midfield play by Karla Briscoe, Halle "Berry" Wine, Allison Inserra and Jonna Scopellito kept play out of our defensive end and pressure on the opposing defense. Dana  "I can play any position on the field" Stucker, held her positions and helped out all over the field. Good Game!!!!!

WIN
OLSS Vipers(5) vs. St.John Neumann Nighthawks(0)

LOSS OLSS Marlins(0) vs. Holy Child Cougars(3)
The Marlins put in an outstanding effort on Saturday against our toughest opponent in two years.  Despite our strong play, the Cougars were able to hand us our first loss of the season.  All players should be proud that they gave it 100% and gave the Cougars their toughest competition of the year.  The team is even more determined to play hard against our next opponent and we look forward to challenging the Cougars again in the spring.

Win OLSS Marlins(2) vs. OLSS Dolphins(0)
When you play in Division 1, you test yourself against the best teams in the league and that was the case again Tuesday night against our fellow OLSS team, the Dolphins.  After putting in a full day of school, doing homework and studying, both teams still put on a impressive effort.  During the first half, the Marlins pressured the Dolphins with aggressive offense and shut them down with strong defense.  Despite several shots on goal, the game was tied 0-0 at halftime.  Steven, Tyler, Joseph Volpe, Justin and Danny rotated through the defensive positions and were key to keeping the action on the Dolphins side of the field.  Derek, Matthew, Chris and Zachary each had several shots on goal which were just wide, hit the post or were stopped by key goalkeeping.  Late in the game, Michael connected with a great pass to Joseph Albanese who knocked it in for the first goal of the match.  A few minutes later, Joseph sealed the game with another goal. Great game by both OLSS teams.

TIE
OLSS Express(1) vs. OLSS Stingrays(1)
The battle of the Sea took place yesterday on Miller Field. The Express took on their sister team the Stingrays in under 7 competition. The Stingrays jumped out to an early lead when Nicolette Esposito scored midway through the first half. The outstanding defensive play by Megan Lopez, Victoria Binder, Annalisa Montemarano and Jessica Pannone helped goalies Isabella Panattieri and Katie Vellanti have great games. After being down 1-0 for most of the game Alexandra Adornetti finally found the net to tie up the game.  After struggling to find a goal keeper in the second half, Maya Dispenza stepped up for team Express and had a great second half at the keeper position. She made two great saves as a first time goalie. As usual Julia, Rachel, Jenna , Samantha, Serena, Gabriella, Gabby, Julianna, Erin Marie, Alyssa, Hailey and Katherine all played their hearts out. It was a hard fought game. The two teams always make for a great game.
WIN OLSS Surge(4) vs. Blessed Sacrament Cosmos(0)
Like a pastry chef, Angelo "Speedie" Occhipinti put the icing on the cake with his second half goal as the Surge recorded a 4 - 0 win over the Cosmos.  Magnus "The Magnificent" Hjorleifsson shut out the Cosmos in the first half while in net, and Vincent "Vinny Miami" Mammi preserved the shut out in the second half.Vincent "Vinny Dogs" Barone scored on a corner kick and netted his second goal for the Surge on a break away.  Jason Leventhal, Joseph Morelli and Andrew Tachman starred both ways for Surge.  Jonathon "JP" Pellegrino, Tyler "Machine Gun" Wren and Brendan "Bull Dog" Walsh kept the ball in front of the Cosmos goal all day and had great shots on net.The boys behaved very well on the sidelines and offered the Cosmos good sportsmanship.  Good luck to Joseph Morelli on his minor operation this coming week.
TIE OLSS Strikers(0) vs. Holy Child Comanches(0)
After a tough loss last week, Strikers came back to play great soccer.
What an exiting came ending in a 0 - 0 tie, that ball was moving all over
the field. Great goal keeping by Michael Venetsky, Paul Caiazza and Anthony
Gatti. Player of the match was Richard Greaves, giving 110 % fighting for every
ball. Eric Kearns, Joseph Monforte and Sean Taravella were solid in defense.
Giovanni Tafuri, Andrew Bacolo and Joseph Nichilo played a smart midfield
making some passes to Mark wildes and Joseph Lieberman who both had some nice
shots up on the forward line. These boys are really starting to play as a team, looking
for passes and helping each other out. Way to go Strikers !!

WIN
Sparks (4) vs  Blessed Sacrament (0)
We did it again girls!  Carlie Break-Away Buono broke loose from the pack of players to score a goal as well as Sophia Espada with her fancy foot moves kicking the ball right into the net.  Caitlin Gleavy pushed ahead to score the other 2 goals of the game.  Katherine, Katie Borg, Julia, and Elaina not only played an awesome offense but their quick hands kept Blessed Sacrament from scoring.  Isabella, Gianna, Kaitlin Malloy, Michaela, Lauren, and Lisa---you girls not only kept the other team from scoring but you all assisted  in our girls scoring goals.  Great job by all!   We missed our other two Sparks--Katie and Chloe.  Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters and anyone else I missed.......without your support and cheering on sidelines things wouldn't so exciting.  Same goes for our team mom, Maylee and Sparks waiting their turns.  See you on Wednesday!
WIN OLSS Stars 8, OLGC Blue Angels 0
The Stars played another outstanding game on Sunday against OLGC.  This week's offensive machine had five players scoring goals: Sydney Kelly (3), Kaitlyn Piccione (2), Deanna Endall (1), Gianna Disibio (1) and Sakina Saeed (1). Gianna Ferrante, Hayley Gallagher, Olivia Volpe and Lauren Killen played great stopping the Blue Angels and kick starting our offense.  Hailey Varca and Julia McCabe took turns shutting outing OLGC with strong goalkeeping.
WIN OlSS Fever(8) vs. St. Joseph/ St. Thomas Attack(0)
The Fever is red hot!  We played another great game against the Attack and held them scoreless. Our defense continues to shine with great effort from Ryan, Joseph, James, Devon and especially from our goal keepers John and Derek.  The offense was too much for the Attack. Joseph led the scoring with four fantastic goals and great ball control.  Justin's speed was unstoppable and he scored three goals. Nicholas rounded off the scoring with a goal he was determined to make.  It was a great effort by the whole team.  Victor, Michael, and Jonathan continue to make progress and helped our team with some nice moves.  Keep up the good work.

WIN OLSS Stallions (7) vs. St. Margaret Mary Bulldogs (1)
After a great start last week, the Stallions had another impressive win by beating the St. Margaret Mary Bulldogs, and putting on an offensive show. Anthony Germana started things off with a goal and the rest was history. Eddie Pucciarelli and Nick Simone both scored 2 goals, along with Danny Murro and Robert Lapiedra scoring one a piece. Ray Cardella was on a mission and pushed the ball up field the entire game. The newest members of the team, Nick Tritto and Leonardo Cavicchio, contributed with a solid defensive effort and played like seasoned veterans. Marchello Scotto was the keeper of the midfield and stopped all incoming attacks in the first half. It was an amazing effort shown by everyone on the team, and a pleasure to watch the passing and unselfish play. Keep up the good work, and more importantly, have a great time out there.
Win OLSS Seahorses(5) vs. OLHC Dynamos(0)
Samantha Pannone scored her first goal to lead the Seahorses to an
exciting win over the Dynamos.  Alex Pannone and Sonny Baialardo also

WIN OLSS Sharks(3) vs. St Charles Stingrays(0)

The OLSS Sharks defeated the St. Charles Stingrays 3-0.  Although the Sharks started out in slow motion (maybe it was the 9am game and everyone was up too late?), Brian Weintraub, from the Stopper position opened the scoring late in the first half to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead with the assist from Michael Catanzaro.William Trang added two more goals midway through the 2nd half with assists from Michael Lieberman on two great cross passes from the far right side. The defensive play of Chris Odessa, Fred Wiener and Michael Beale helped Mark Dantuono hold out for the shut out.

LOSS OLSS Turmoil(2) vs. Petrides Panthers Blue(4)
OlSS Turmoil suffered their first loss of the season against a tough Petrides Panthers team. Team Turmoil scored two early goals by Michelle DiPaolo and Julianna Adornetti to take a 2-0 lead. Petrides came back before the half scoring twice and tying the game. Turmoil lead by Allison Inserra, midfield and Nicole Vierno on defense kept Petrides at bay until late in the second half when Petrides scored to take a 3-2 lead. Petrides added a last minute goal to put the game away. Team Turmoil played hard and didn't give up until the final whistle. Good game!!!!
Saturday 9/22
LOSS OLSS Turmoil(1) vs. Holy Child Crosskickers(2)
OLSS Turmoil faced a tough Holy Child Crosskicker team losing on a penalty kick 2-1. Alexa Cardella netted Turmoils only goal in the second half, beating The Holy Child goalie and drilling the ball into the upper left hand corner of the goal, knotting the game at one. Brooke Wildes kept the game close stopping all but one of The Crosskickers numerous chances in the first half. Nikki Kinnear stepped in holding the opposition to no scores until late in the second half when Holy Child scored on a penalty kick.
WIN OLSS Knights(3) vs. St Joseph Hill Academy(0)
With the outstanding goal keeping by Luke Ammirati , the Knights were
able to shut down SJHA.  Our outstanding defense was led by Rob
Guidicipietro.  Goals were made by John Zangrillo, DJ Kindya and our
newest team member Daniel Caputo.  LETS GO KNIGHTS!!!

TIE  OLSS Rhinos (2) vs. St. Patrick Banchees (2)

The Rhinos played hard all game but just couldn’t put the game away this week!  Matthew Senerchia used some dazzling footwork to freeze the defense and put the Rhinos on the board in the opening minutes of the game.  After the Banchees tied the game up the first time, Michael Matrangolo blasted a 12 footer into the back of the net.  Michael Raucci and Michael Taylor again put strong performances in the net and the rest of the boys tried as hard as they could to get the Rhinos the win.  Unfortunately for us, the Banchees scored late in the second half and that’s the way it ended.
